Judge Severs 5 Counts From Bankman-Fried’s Indictment In the middle of Bahamian Legal Procedures

Lawyers representing FTX creator Sam Bankman-Fried and the U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace for the Southern District of New york city appeared in federal court Thursday hours after district attorneys yielded that 5 of Bankman-Fried’s 13 charges ought to be severed from his indictment amidst continuous legal procedures in the Bahamas, where he was jailed in late 2022.

In an order late Thursday afternoon, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New york city approved the movement to sever and arranged trial on those 5 counts for March. The trial on Bankman-Fried’s initial charges is arranged for October.
