Best start since 2010

The fine weather of the last few weeks has given bamberg’s outdoor pools their most successful start to the season since 2010: in the first month after their opening, 40,643 guests visited the bambados outdoor pool, the grove pool and the outdoor pool in gaustadt. This is half more than last year, when the stadtwerke bamberg paid 27 273 visitors in the same period, the stadtwerke bamberg announced.
Last spring, the municipal utility had made the outdoor pools more attractive for several hundred thousand euros. In the most popular of the three facilities, the outdoor pool at the bambados, the water is now heated with residual heat from the block-type thermal power station of the passive house pool. A new sprinkler system ensures lush greenery on the sunbathing lawns all summer long. More climbing and playing facilities were created for children in the outdoor pool area of the combination pool, and new benches and seating were also installed. Bathing guests use the indoor and outdoor swimming pool area of the bambado at a discounted summer admission price. So far 19,158 guests have visited the bambados outdoor pool.
In the grove bathing area, the turnstile has rotated 11,758 times so far this year. This means that the air and sunbathing pool on the left arm of the river regnitz is still the second most popular leisure facility for the city’s public utility companies. Since the 18. May guests bask on a new walkway that rises like a balcony over the regnitz river and ensures that the charm of the air and sun pool, which opened in 1935, is preserved. Also new are the "bucherzelle" for the free book exchange, a sprinkler system for the lawns, additional lockers for valuables as well as a step-free entrance.
The extended opening hours have so far attracted 9727 visitors to the outdoor pool in gaustadt. As of this year, the swimming pool at michelsberger wald is open from 10 a.M. On mondays to fridays and from 8 a.M. On saturdays, sundays and public holidays.
