Poldi’s boys celebrate a rough reunion in kulmbach

"Do you still know, back in paris. The poldi fell into the water", willy kastner told us, and he also had the matching old photo with him. Laughing at the peers. And many an anecdote was told at the reunion of the former members of the boys’ band in the kommunbrau: of youths who had been booed, of beer drinking and of many a prank.

Appearances in lederhosen

"I have not been in kulmbach for almost 50 years, i live in nagold in baden-wurttemberg. But when I found out that the former members of the boys’ band were meeting, I was happy to come", helmut steeger (74) said.
"We had a red vest, a blue jacket and a tricorn hat", reiner hofmann. The kulmbach city archivist had a passion for collecting even back then. He has come to the meeting of the "old" boy brought his own uniform. "Oh, I just did not give them back then." At the revival he is a hero with his remembrance piece. "I have grown out of it", said hofmann.
"I joined the boys’ band when I was nine years old. I used to play tenor horn, now I play baritone with the burghaig music society", says hofmann. At the same time – from 1957 to 1963 – didi arlt (72) was also there. "The boys’ orchestra was already something back then. We’ve been around the world. I remember trips to paris, to the kieler woche and to the gaubodenfest", he paid arlt.
Many former students have brought photos of their memories with them. Adam fleischer (67) contributed some very different old photographs to the success of the evening. He still owns a tape recorder from the sixties, fully functional. "I remember when we visited franz josef straub, the defense minister at the time, in bonn, how we went to karl heinrich lubke’s villa hammerschmidt", swarmed butcher.
Siegfried kufner (64) also has very special memories: "the best thing for us was when we put on our uniforms and felt like little kings, kufner said. He was not alone in the boys’ band, his brothers helmut, ferdinand and dieter were also there.

Songs in honor of poldi schott

At the meeting in the kommunbrau, the former members of the boys’ band celebrated "their poldi". Schott would have turned one hundred in may 2017. City band conductor thomas besand wanted to play a commemorative piece at the new year’s concert 2018. "I have a special relationship with poldi schott. Because he was my first horn teacher and a fatherly friend. I have inherited many notes from him, also some waldhorns."
Then again resounding laughter at the neighboring table. "Do you still know, back in paris. We played a fubball game", some laughed. Erich wochele (65), alfred thurn (67) and heinz schaller (71) also put their heads together and were amused by the pictures. "But we’ve been good boys", schaller summed up what everyone was thinking.

From wreaths and cribs

From wreaths and cribs

Advent calendars, nativity scenes and christmas markets: the christmas season is full of tradition and need. But only a few know where they actually come from and what exactly is hidden behind them.

With the start of the advent season the first christmas markets open all over germany. The market, which was often called "christkindlmarkt or "advent market the carnivals have a tradition of 600 years. As early as 14. In the nineteenth century, artisans were allowed to set up sales booths. Candy bakers took care of the physical well-being. With handicrafts, delicacies and christmas music, the christmas markets still attract numerous visitors today. Today, when people go to the christmas market for fun, they used to stock up for the cold season and the coming holidays.

Advent, advent, a little light burns

The advent wreath, as we know it today, did not appear until the beginning of the 20th century. The first of the twentieth century enters the private households of the republic. The advent wreath, invented in 1839 by johann hinrich wichern, was a wagon wheel hung in the room, decorated with 20 small and four coarse candles – the number of days from the first advent to saint's eve. He was supposed to shorten the waiting time for christmas for the children in his care. It was not until 1860 that the wreath was decorated with pine greenery. Over time, the advent wreath invented by the evangelical theologian became more and more popular. In 1925, such a wreath was found for the first time in a catholic church.

Over 1000 visitors

The first summer festival in marktgraitz exceeded expectations by far with more than 1000 visitors. Seats were quickly in short supply and more beer tent sets were set up by the burgermeister and his comrades-in-arms from the FC marktgraitz sports center. Also the helpers at the beer tap of the local "rosenauer hofbrau had to perform at a high level to satisfy all the thirsty throats. And it was an event of superlatives, which the municipality of marktgraitz and the numerous associations had put on the legs.
After the entertainment band "bieroxn the choir community of marktgraitz/mannsgereuth opened the evening with "wir loben die musik" (we praise the music). And the next songs accompanied the visitors to the croatian adriatic coast. The "vacation feeling was reinforced by the songs of heinrich geblein and pino neapolitano accompanied by reinhardt lutter. Italian folklore fit perfectly into the summery atmosphere that prevailed on the market square, and made the visitors revel in this summer night's dream. The "graatzer hecht'n dreigesang" loves each other and returned home with french folklore.

Burgermeister lets it rip

A graceful performance was given by the two groups of the dance guard of the TV marktgraitz. Showing no stage fright at all in front of such a coarse audience, got a lot of applause during her performance. Rock music from mayor partheymuller: no one expected this. Alternating guitar and bass by him and his son laurenz and his friend jonas gohl on drums they had taken over the stage without further ado.

Question: you said a few days ago that you wanted to give more concerts in europe. When to? Is already a tour planning in progress?

Answer: "we definitely won’t be announcing any shows in the near future, because there is a procedure for how we do things, and I always like to approach the fans directly first and tell them about it. But it’s definitely important to me to go on tour this year in places i haven’t been in a long time. I’m in the middle of planning for it and it’s so good to be back in germany. The fans are so nice and wonderful and friendly."
