Well-wishers were queuing up

well-wishers were queuing up

She is a true institution in hirschaid: theresia barthelmes, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Celebrating his birthday. The fact that half the community came to congratulate them is out of the question. Barthelmes has worn the burgermedaille since 1993, was a co-founder and leader of the old people’s club, was on the board of the catholic women’s association for a long time, and much more besides.

Born in kirchehrenbach, she married her husband kurt in 1951. The family moved with the first two of five children to hirschaid in 1958 because kurt barthelmes’ work on the federal railroad construction train made it possible to use an apartment there. Three more children followed and the family was able to move into their own house in hirschaid in the 1960s. In the meantime, the family has grown to seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Unfortunately kurt died already in 2006. Today theresia – or resi, as she is called – is the center of the family. Although she is not quite as good at fub as she used to be, she is mentally fit, quick-witted and articulate.
